Suspect In Denver Hit-And-Run Captured In Leadville

Travis Scott Now In Denver Jail

POSTED: 10:21 am MDT June 11, 2009

A Broomfield man suspected in a fatal hit-and-run in Denver Tuesday night was arrested in Leadville, driving the damaged car suspected in the crash.

Denver police said that Travis J. Scott, 22, was stopped by officers in Leadville on Wednesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. A check revealed he was wanted by police in Denver in connection with the death of Amber Gomez, 30, the night before.

Gomez was walking across Sheridan Boulevard in the 1900 block when she was hit and killed. Police said the driver left the location without stopping.

According to Denver police, Scott was driving a 2000 Mazda four-door with damage "consistent with an auto-pedestrian accident" when he was arrested.

Scott is being held in the Denver City Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

News of Scott's arrest was withheld until police could confirm his identity.
