A program in Denver could mean a new kitchen or roof without paying for a building permit.

The city is waiving building permit fees starting Monday June 1.

The program is called the "Home Renovation Bonanza." The goal is to encourage renovations to help the economy.

Permits typically cost at least $20 but can run into the thousands for complex projects.

Examples of eligible projects include replacing stucco or siding or remodeling a kitchen or bath.

Additions won't be eligible.

The free permits are available until June 15 and are valid for 180 days.

Call Denver 311 or visit www.denvergov.com/building for more information about the Home Renovation Bonanza.
