3 Found Dead Inside Boulder Home

Few Details Released

Three people were found dead in a house Tuesday afternoon, the result of a double-homicide-suicide, Boulder police said.

Police found the bodies inside 2403 Bluff St. after the family's housekeeper flagged down a traffic officer who was one block away. She told the officer she went into the house to clean it and stumbled into a woman's body, Boulder police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said.

An officer entered the home at about 11:30 a.m. and saw a body and a weapon and called for additional resources. Officers later discovered two men upstairs and a woman downstairs, all victims of gunshot wounds. Multiple firearms were also recovered and taken into evidence, police said.

The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear and are under investigation.

Police early on would not say if they believed there was cause for neighbors to be concerned, but officers patrolled the area asking questions about the case and trying to give some relief to unnerved people in the area.

By Tuesday night, police said they were not looking for any additional suspects.

"Investigators believe the violence was confined to this home and family," Huntley said.

Concerned neighbors walked by the cordoned off streets. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood just north of the downtown area.

"It feels like a very small town kind of atmosphere right here so this is particularly surprising considering that," said Emily Reynolds, who has lived in the neighborhood for nearly three decades. "This is quite astonishing to tell you the truth."

The coroner's office was at the home to retrieve the bodies but no positive identification has been made. Neighbors said the family who lived there was a very private couple and their son.
