Broomfield Man Faces Hearing In Girl's Death
Body Of Kelsey Shannon Found In January

BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- The man accused in the death of a 13-year-old girl whose decomposed remains were found in a ditch near her Broomfield home is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.Eighteen-year-old Alexander Pacheco of Broomfield faces first-degree murder and other charges, including abuse of a corpse, in the death of his former girlfriend, Kelsey Shannon.Kelsey disappeared from her family home in October, and her body was found Jan. 21. Authorities haven't released her cause of death.
Pacheco is being held without bond at the Broomfield County jail.Wednesday's preliminary hearing will be the first time authorities reveal to the public the evidence that led them to arrest Pacheco. The arrest and search warrant have been sealed since Pacheco was taken into custody Jan. 24.Court records show Kelsey was expected to testified against Pacheco in a theft case.
