Murder Suspect Known To 'Act Like A Cop'

Police Ask For Help In Finding Lacy Miller's Body

Police are investigating the possibility that Lacy Miller, the University of Northern Colorado student who disappeared Saturday and presumed dead, was pulled over by someone posing as one of them.

Investigators think a police impersonator may have also stopped or tried to stop other women recently, police spokeswoman Rita Davis said Thursday.

Police revealed the theory as they sought tips from the public and continued to search for the Miller's body.

Jason Clausen, 22, who was arrested Wednesday in connection with Miller's disappearance, was known to drive around in his white Ford Expedition with red and blue lights and "act like a cop," according to sheriff's records.

He is also a former mall security guard at the Foothills Mall and once served as an Explorer Scout for the Fort Collins Police Department.

Police are asking the public to call them if they saw Clausen or his 1998 white Ford Expedition with Colorado license plate 313DLL stop Miller's black Mitsubishi Mirage.

They are also asking for help in tracing the whereabouts of the Expedition and a homemade flatbed trailer with Colorado license plate L105591.

The SUV may have been used to move Miller's body, according to a police news release.

If you have seen this vehicle (pictured, left), or something similar to it parked anywhere in Weld or Larimer County on Saturday, Jan. 18, or Monday, Jan. 20, you are asked to contact Fort Collins police at (970) 224-6090.

Detectives said they have recovered several of Miller's personal belongings, including her identification, but have not said why they believe she is dead.

Earlier this month, sheriff's deputies stopped Clausen during a patrol and found handcuffs, mace, a bail bondsman's badge and a set of red and blue flashing emergency lights inside his SUV.

The deputies were patrolling the area around a hotel that had been robbed three days before. Clausen didn't match the description of the robbery suspect but evaded deputies' questions, prompting them to revoke his concealed weapons permit.

A picture of Clausen -- described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, 175 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes -- was not released pending a photo lineup,

If you have been stopped by a man with a similar description, driving a similar car, you are asked to contact police.

Clausen, who worked at Circuit City until a few weeks ago, was supposed to ship out for Army basic training on Monday.

He had been on the honor roll at the former Choice City Christian School but he has had brushes with the law.

According to records from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Clausen was arrested Jan. 13 for allegedly stealing clothes and a car battery from his former roommate. In 2000, he was charged for drag racing.

Fort Collins police have staked off a section of a Larimer County landfill but have not continued searching the area for Miller's body.

A $10,000 reward is still available for more information about her whereabouts.

Lacy Miler's mother and stepfather planned a prayer vigil at their Fort Collins home Friday night.
