DENVER -- Authorities have arrested a 52-year-old man accused of downloading child pornography on a state-owned computer.
Peter Dunn was indicted on 20 counts of sexual exploitation of
children and one count of embezzlement of public property,
prosecutors said Tuesday.
A grand jury issued the indictment in December but it remained
sealed until Jan. 8, after Dunn was arrested, said Lynn Kimbrough,
a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.
Dunn is suspected of downloading and storing sexually explicit
images of children on his computer while working in 2001 in the
telecommunications department of the Auraria Higher Education
Center, the campus for three Colorado colleges.
If convicted, Dunn could face three years in prison for
embezzlement and 18 months for each child exploitation charge,
Kimbrough said.
The embezzlement charge, which is a felony, stems from Dunn's
use of a state-owned computer, she said. The exploitation charges
are misdemeanors.
Dunn was arrested last year and charged with one count of child
sexual exploitation after child pornography was first found in
2001. The charge was later dropped so other charges could be
explored, Kimbrough said.
He is expected to appear in court Jan. 27.
