AG: 'New' Rocky Mountain News Offer Is A Scam

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- If someone comes to your door offering a subscription to the "new" Rocky Mountain News, just say no.Colorado Attorney General John Suthers and AARP ElderWatch issued a warning Friday about the scam.The Rocky Mountain News stopped publishing in February.
“Scam artists are very adept at exploiting the news of the day, and this is just another example of these individuals trying [to] profit off the name of one of Colorado’s former newspaper giants,” Suthers said in a statement. “Coloradans should be wary of anyone selling subscriptions or other products door to door.”The salesmen have told potential customers they take cash only.If you suspect you or a family member might have been victimized, contact your local police or sheriff’s department. You also can report fraud to the Colorado Consumer Line, 1-800-222-4444.
