WINDSOR, Colo. -- Two newborn puppies are fighting to survive after being left in a Dumpster at Windsor Lake.A family walking around the lake heard a noise and found the puppies. "The two puppies were in a grocery bag in a Dumpster," Stacie Stocks from the Mountainwood Pet Hospital told 7NEWS.Stocks said a police officer went back and checked every Dumpster around the lake area to make sure no other puppies were abandoned.
The vet at Mountainwood Pet Hospital checked the two puppies and started getting them warmed up.Folks at the Animal Rescue Connection are now feeding the puppies every two hours around the clock along with some kittens that were also recently abandoned. The puppies will likely be available for adoption in 8 to 10 weeks.Their care is being paid for by a fund through Stray Animals in Need of Treatment, or SAINT. The SAINT Fund was designed to help unwanted animals or animals needing medical work whose owners can't afford the treatment. To donate to the fund, call Mountainwood Pet Hospital at (970) 686-5725.
