Deputies: Shotgun Displayed During Neighbor Dispute

Neighbors Arguing Over Tree Removal

A tree between two neighbors in Boulder County was the cause of an argument that ended in jail time for one of them.

Boulder sheriff's deputies were called to the 8100 block of N. 41st around 2 p.m. Saturday to a dispute they were familiar with.

“The removal of the tree has been an ongoing dispute between the two,” said the Boulder sheriff’s office.

The two neighbors were arguing over the removal of a tree in the ditch right-of-way.

During the argument, John Bickmore, who is one of the neighbors, reportedly told his neighbor he was going to go get his shotgun and walked away and into his garage.

A short time later, Bickmore returned with his shotgun, the neighbor told deputies.

“The victim, after feeling threatened, left the scene for safety,” said the Boulder sheriff’s office, “and that’s when 911 was called.”

Bickmore was arrested at his home and booked into the Boulder County Jail on suspicion of felony menacing.

No shots were fired during the argument, according to deputies.
