Popeye's Robbers Escape With Money, Chicken

POSTED: 11:09 am MST February 6, 2009

Police said three to five men, dressed in all black clothing and wearing ski masks and black scarves, robbed a Popeye's Restaurant Thursday night.

One of the men was armed with a handgun and another man was armed with a knife, when they entered the Popeye's on Austin Bluffs about 9:50 p.m., according to witnesses.

Police said the robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of money and fried chicken.

When the "robbery in progress" call came in, the first police units arrived within 2 minutes, but the robbers had already left.

A K-9 unit was used to search for the chicken-scented robbers but lost their trail.

No one was injured during the robbery.
