Police Say Alleged Thieves Returned To Shoot Man

A 38-year-old Littleton man was shot in the arm Tuesday around midnight during a drive-by shooting that police said was started after the victim foiled a car burglary.

Investigators said the victim confronted two men trying to steal the stereo out of his vehicle parked out front of a home in the 6400 block of S. Crocker Street.

The men ran away but returned in a car a few minutes later, said police spokesman Lt. Charles Broadhead.

“The passenger fired several shots from a handgun at the victim as the suspects drove by the residence,” Broadhead said.

The victim was hit in the left shoulder and taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. He was released Tuesday morning.

Four people were standing in the front yard of the victim’s house during the shooting. All took cover and were unharmed, Broadhead said.

Later that morning, the shooter’s car was spotted by a police officer who arrested two suspects. A handgun was also recovered, Broadhead said.

Police say the driver of the car is a juvenile and is being held in a juvenile facility. The passenger was identified as 27-year-old Lincoln Joshua Lucero.

Lucero has been booked into the Arapahoe County Jail on a variety of charges including attempted murder and assault.
