A payroll manager is accused of creating non-existent employees and using the identity of former employees to steal more than $3 million from a large oil and gas drilling company.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged Jennifer Elaine Bundy, 34, with theft and computer crimes after an investigation by the Denver DA's Economic Crime Unit.

In a statement sent to 7NEWS, the District Attorney's Office said the charges allege that Bundy, in her position as a payroll manager, created non-existent employees on the payroll and had their wages direct deposited to accounts set up and controlled by Bundy.

The charges further allege that Bundy used the identities of former employees and at least 25 fictitious employees between 2001 and 2008 to steal more than $3 million from the company.

Bundy was arrested Tuesday. Her bond is set at $1 million.
