Woman Comes Forward To ID Mystery Room

Cox Arrested On Additional Charges

Boulder police said Tuesday that a woman has come forward to identify a "mystery" bedroom seen in a videotape taken by an alleged peeping Tom.

Police had released a photograph of the room and asked that anyone who recognized it to come forward. A friend of the woman saw the photograph in the news and asked the woman about it. The alleged victim went to the police Tuesday morning and identified the room as her own, police said.

Police say the man who videotaped himself inside the woman's room is also accused of videotaping a couple having sex and stealing women's underwear.

Wesley Cox was arrested Halloween night after two neighbors saw him holding a video camera pointed through a window, police said. A couple at that apartment did not know they were being videotaped, police said.

Cox was booked on charges of unlawful sexual contact and trespassing.

During their investigation detectives found a videotape with images of several nude women -- who have not been identified -- and video of Cox masturbating with women's underwear, police said. He was videotaped masturbating in a bedroom that wasn't his own, police said.

The woman who came forward on Tuesday said that he did not have permission to be there.

Besides the videotape, also seized from Cox's home at 1505 48th St. were dozens of women's undergarments. Some of the undergarments, including several cheerleading uniforms, are from Boulder High School, Huntley said.

Police believe the items were likely taken from homes within a two-mile radius of Cox's home. Detectives said it appeared that Cox broke into women's homes, stole clothing and then became obsessed with the victims.

Cox, who lives alone, was rearrested on Monday after six women came forward and identified photos of their underwear, said police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley.

He now faces seven additional charges of four counts of second-degree burglary and three counts of first-degree trespassing.

Police believe there may be more victims in this case and released additional photos of undergarments discovered in Cox's home, Huntley said. Detectives are once again asking anyone who recognizes these items to contact investigators as soon as possible.
