GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- The owner of a Grand Junction bar said employees and customers offered to give another patron a ride home less than an hour before the man's remains were found scattered near a railroad crossing in Clifton. Mesa County coroner's officials said Aaron David Rudder, 28, of Grand Junction, was the man struck and killed by a Union Pacific freight train early Tuesday.Police found his remains strewn along the railroad track.
The cause of death was determined to be multiple injuries, but officials say the manner of death is pending a review of toxicology results and scene investigation. DJ's Roadhouse owner Duane Clark said Rudder came into the bar Monday night, ordered two pitchers of beer but only drank one of them, and left around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday. Clark said several people offered Rudder a ride home, but he refused, saying he needed to "walk things off."Rudder had only been married about three months, Clark said.
