Driver Pronounced Dead, Revives

Man Was Ejected From Car

UPDATED: 1:08 pm MST November 30, 2008

A car crash victim who was pronounced dead at the scene was later revived at a hospital, authorities said Saturday.

Douglas Schaben, 39, was ejected after rolling his 2008 Toyota Tacoma off E-470 and Gartrell around midnight, said the Colorado State Patrol.

The Tacoma hit a post and rolled twice.

The patrol said Schaben was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.

Trooper David Hall said paramedics reported that Schaben did not have any vital signs. He was taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital, where doctors revived him, Hall said.

Schaben is being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit and is listed in critical condition.

Authorities said they believe speed and weather were factors in the crash.
