Single-Car Crash Kills 19-Year-Old In Aurora

SUV Hits Traffic Signal Pole At Gun Club Road, Jewell

A 19-year-old Aurora man was killed after the Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle he was driving struck a traffic signal pole at Gun Club Road and East Jewell Avenue late Thursday.

Police were dispatched at 10:55 p.m. and they found the injured man in the wreckage. He was transported to Aurora Medical Center South and later pronounced dead.

Investigators said that the blue Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on Gun Club Road when it ran off the right side of the road and struck the the traffic signal pole.

Police are investigating what role alcohol or speed may have played in the crash.

His identity is being withheld pending the notification of his family.
