COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A former Fort Carson soldier who pleaded guilty in the death of a fellow Iraq war veteran described in court how he helped Louis Bressler dispose of bloody clothing and shoes along with a weapon in the days after the killing. Kenneth Eastridge testified Wednesday in Colorado Springs in the trial of Bressler, also an Iraq veteran, who faces first-degree murder charges in the 2007 death of 24-year-old Spc. Kevin Shields. Prosecutors have said Shields left a nightclub with Bressler, Eastridge and a third soldier on Dec. 1, and that Bressler later fired five shots at Shields.
Eastridge pleaded guilty to accessory to murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Bruce Bastien is serving 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to accessory charges.
