FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Several sixth-grade students at a Fort Collins elementary school were disciplined after school officials said they were caught drinking alcohol at the school. The incident happened Friday at Johnson Elementary School, at 4101 Seneca, and started when one student brought alcohol to school and shared it with other students, said Poudre School District spokeswoman Ellen Laubhan.Laubhan wouldn't disclose what discipline was taken, because the students are minors, but told 7NEWS, "We do have a zero tolerance policy" when it comes to alcohol.
She did not know the exact number of students involved and what type of alcohol was brought to the school, or how much was actually consumed. She said the school immediately contacted the parents of the students involved."This is an example of a bad choice made by the student ... a learning experience for the student involved," she said.According to Laubhan, this is the first incident of its kind at the school in the past 11 years.
