POSTED: 8:52 am MDT October 17, 2008

A passenger in a pick-up truck was killed Friday morning when the truck he was riding in hit a deer on Interstate 70 and rolled.

The mishap was reported at about 7:30 a.m., 3 miles west of Deer Trail, Colorado, in the eastbound lanes of I-70.

The Ford F350 pickup was approaching a right-hand curve on a down grade when it hit the deer, going off the right side of the interstate and rolling 1½ times.

The passenger in the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the pickup suffered serious injuries in the crash.

No other vehicles were involved.

The two were driving from Denver to Burlington for a job, according to troopers investigating the crash.
