DENVER -- On Thursday, Dependable Cleaners and 7News kick off the 28th annual Coats for Colorado Campaign.

Coats for Colorado will accept new and gently used coats through Nov. 30 at any of 30 Dependable Cleaners locations in the metro area and at upcoming special events.

To kick off this year's campaign, a special event will be held on Monday, Oct. 5 at the Denver's 7/Azteca America Colorado studios, located at the intersection of Speer Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue. 7News/Azteca America personalities and Dependable Cleaners' volunteers will be on hand from 5 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. to accept donations.

In addition to daily collections at all Dependable Cleaners, Coats for Colorado will host four collection events;

Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- Highlands Ranch Town Center
Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- Twenty Ninth Street in Boulder at Macy's Plaza
Saturday, Oct. 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- Valet parking area of FlatIron Crossing Mall in Broomfield
Saturday, Nov. 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- International Event Center Mississippi and Havana

Coats for Colorado is the state’s largest coat drive and the nation's largest per capita coat drive. Since the program's inception in 1982, over 1.5 million coats have been distributed.

Businesses, schools and community organizations are encouraged to get involved by setting up coat collection drives.

Coats will be distributed to anyone in need at Dependable Cleaners 1701 S. Broadway, Nov. 21 and Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. until noon.

Distributions to charitable organizations are by appointment only and begin Oct. 13. To schedule an appointment, call 303-777-2673, ext. 22.
