DENVER -- The man who authorities dubbed Bank Robber Bob for allegedly robbing several banks in the Metro Denver area was arrested Monday.A spokeswoman for the FBI said the alleged robber, whose real name is John Lehman, was arrested at 17th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard in Denver Monday afternoon with help from Denver and Edgewater police.Special Agent Kathy Wright said Lehman is suspected of robbing one bank three times. She said the Provenant Federal Credit Union was robbed on June 13, July 10 and Sept. 19.
In the last robbery, Lehman allegedly got into a fight with one of the employees and injured his head, Wright said."The bank robbery was a little different and out of pattern. He actually vaulted the teller counter and was confronted by two of the bank employees. They had a struggle and he actually got injured in the fight," White said. She said BOB fled the scene with a head injury and left a trail of blood on his way out the door.Surveillance cameras caught the robber on tape wearing slacks, cowboy boots, a blue shirt and a tie. Normally the robber would use a disguise wearing a cowboy hat, a wig and sometimes glasses.White said Investigators are looking into whether or not Lehman was involved in other bank robberies in the metro area.Police said if anyone recognizes Lehman, they should contact police at 303-629-7171.
