BOULDER, Colo. -- The Delta Chi fraternity at CU Boulder is making headlines again, this time because of a controversial sign outside its fraternity house in Boulder.According to the Boulder Daily Camera newspaper, the sign reads "Delta Chi We Get Girls Wet". There is a dunk tank being set up outside the fraternity house. Some are upset about the double meaning of the phrase, especially because many women walk by the house in the University Hill area of Boulder.
Delta Chi was expelled from the University of Colorado-Boulder Interfraternity Council in March, a month after nine pledges were arrested for allegedly trashing an Estes Park motel during a weekend retreat. The national headquarters of Delta Chi also said it would put the Boulder chapter on probation until spring 2009.Estes Park police said the University of Colorado students trashed two Super 8 motel rooms. Damage, which topped $10,000, included giant holes in walls, ripped-down ceiling fans, broken furniture, ruined electrical units, and blood and vomit throughout, according to the motel manager. This is rush week for CU's Greek community. New students may not be aware that Delta Chi has been expelled from the Interfraternity Council.
