DENVER -- Coloradobizbuzz.com is a new resource for consumers looking for a wide variety of services. The Web site boasts businesses of all kinds, from caterers to kennels, that are rated by the customers they serve. There are other Web sites that offer similar types of ratings, but there are a few things that set Coloradobizbuzz apart.
It is free to look at reviews or write them.President Ward Lassoe said businesses can not buy a better rating with their advertising dollars."You get the list of the businesses, but you also get to see what other consumers' experiences have been with those businesses. You can see the ones they trust and the ones they maybe don't trust so much," he said.Users fill out a registration to rate the businesses.Lassoe said they track the legitimacy of the reviews, since that is the whole reason people use the site."We want our reviews to be honest, accurate and informative," he said.Every business gets a free listing, but Lassoe said they offer a $25 a month upgrade to a gold listing status. That offers the business more space to add a Web site link or other information, but Lassoe insists it does not guarantee good reviews."It's not about us. It's about the consumers and it's about the ratings they get," he said, "Even if you do a Gold listing on biz buzz the reviews can still come in positive or negative."The more negative reviews a business gets, the further it is pushed down the list of businesses in the category.Company officials admit they can not be 100 percent sure of every review, so they have a system in place to investigate questions and concerns.Only Colorado businesses are allowed on the site and so far, the company said 10,000 reviews have been posted.
