Runaway Busted In Stolen Car After Asking Cop For Directions

Police: Teen Cries, Admits Having Drug Paraphernalia

POSTED: 11:40 am MDT August 26, 2008

A teenage runway from a Grand Junction detention facility ran into the long arm of the law when he tried to visit a friend in Eagle, Colo.

The Vail Daily reported recently that the boy called a friend to tell them he would be in town shortly.

A tip to police resulted in an officer waiting for the escapee in a church parking lot.

The teenager pulled up and asked the officer for directions, according to the newspaper.

That's when the officer noticed the car had different license plates on the front and back of the vehicle and also noticed an extra set of license plates inside.

When questioned, the teen started crying and admitted he was a runaway and had a marijuana pipe in the car.

He was arrested for investigation of criminal impersonation, theft by receiving, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under revocation, and altered license plates, according to the Daily.
