DENVER -- Get out the plywood and duct tape.

Some downtown businesses say they’re preparing for anything.

At one downtown real estate office, Barb Hendrix said they are considering buying plywood, plastic sheeting and duct tape, in case protestors break out the windows and police use tear gas.

"I don't think it's going to happen. I think we're going to get the stuff just to be safe, though, because we're so close," said Hendrix.

Ernest Fuller owns an art gallery downtown and extended his hours so he can keep a close eye on his store.

At Larimer Square, property managers say instead of one private security guard patrolling the area, they have two during the convention. But most business owners said the heavy police presence gives them peace of mind.

They're more worried about shoppers staying away.
