Mail Fraud Warning

Letters Come With Personal Note

Senior citizens are being cautioned about a mail scam appearing in Fort Collins that looks like a letter from a friend.

The letter is an article about a financially insecure widow and comes with a handwritten sticky note inside that typically says something like "I thought you'd be interested."

The article recommends calling a toll-free number for more information.

According to the Ft Collins Coloradan, a police officer called the number and was asked for a great deal of personal information including how much money he had available.

Experts said anytime you receive something that doesn't make sense, throw it away.
