A 17-year-old boy is under arrest in Mesa County after the alleged kidnapping of a girl near a Clifton elementary school.

Witnesses told authorities they saw the boy kidnap a teenage girl Tuesday near Rocky Mountain Elementary School. He was driving a car with Mexican license plates, according to witnesses.

Deputies located the teen at a home in Clifton at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Heather Benjamin said the boy was arrested on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping and reckless endangerment.

There are no reports of injuries to the girl.

The motive for the alleged kidnapping was not released.
