The city of Denver and Colorado Democrats are laying down the welcome mat for guests to the Democratic National Convention.

Most of the delegates will arrive later in the week, but some of the support staff and volunteers arrived on Tuesday.

The traditional airport greeters are on hand to say hello and help with directions. In addition, Democratic volunteers are putting in long hours to help with preparations.

Among them, Sophie Fletcher, from California. She told 7NEWS that she sent her resume into convention planners and they thought she could do a good job meeting delegates at the airport.
