Authorities have arrested a man suspected of posing as a police detective and telling an adult novelty shop to give him free X-rated videos so he could check for underage performers.

Drew Libby, 33, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of impersonating an officer, possession of an illegal weapon and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. No phone listing could be found for Libby, and it's not known if he has an attorney.

Investigators say they believe Libby is the man who made three unsuccessful attempts to get free porn DVDs from the store, showing a badge and leaving a business card from the Longmont police "age verification unit." Police say there is no such unit.

Clerks never gave him any DVDs.

The business card he handed over didn't have anyone's name on it but the store gave officers surveillance video of the man, who made those claims on July 18, July 19 and July 26.

Investigators say Libby was identified by an officer and outside tipsters after photos from that surveillance video was released. The man pictured in the surveillance video is a white man with long brown hair, tied in a ponytail, and a mustache. Libby has long brown hair which he ties in a ponytail.

The Longmont Times Call identified Libby as local sword and blade maker who is involved in a small business called Rogue Blade.

Longmont police Cmdr. Tim Lewis said officers searching the home Libby shared with his mother and son found a metal security badge with the words "private security" on it.

Detectives also found illegal knives and a semi-automatic handgun, Lewis said. Libby is a convicted felon and is not allowed to be in possession of a firearm. Several large swords were also seized from Libby's home, Lewis said.

Libby's 9-year-old son was removed from the home and placed in foster care. He also faces charges of child abuse and possession of a firearm by a previous offender. He is being held at the Boulder County Jail.
