Did You Get Tickets To Obama's Acceptance Speech?

Lucky Recipients Notified, Starting Tuesday

POSTED: 9:56 am MDT August 12, 2008

People who got tickets for Sen. Barack Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium will be notified between Tuesday and Friday, according to campaign officials.

The people getting tickets will be notified by text message or e-mail.

If you haven't yet requested community credentials, you have until the end of the day to get on the waiting list, although chances are slim that you will get on the list, the officials said.

More than 60,000 Coloradans have requested tickets to the Aug. 28 event. Only 30,000 seats have been set aside for Colorado residents.

In order to make sure no tickets go unused, those whose names are selected will be asked to prove they have a way to get to Invesco Field to see the speech and also prove they can get lodging for the night, if they are from out of town.

Today is the deadline to get your name on the waiting list for tickets to Barack Obama's speech at Invesco Field. If you are a Colorado resident, you can request to be placed on the waitlist online at co.barackobama.com/invesco.

Residents outside Colorado can request tickets anytime through http://www.demconvention.com/invesco.

Campaign officials, however, said the chances are slim you'll get a seat if you waited until now to get on the list.

Requests for tickets have been showing up on Craigslist.com and wwo tickets to the Obama speech were being auctioned for $3,650 on Viagogo.com. Scalping laws don't apply because the tickets have no face value.

Obama campaign officials said they would work to make sure tickets for the event are not sold, although it was not clear how they could prevent such sales.
