One teenager is in a hospital and another is in jail after a DUI wreck Saturday night.

Police in Colorado Springs said the crash happened in the 2100 block of Colorado Avenue just before midnight.

A 2000 Ford Focus slammed into the back of a parked 1971 Ford pickup, reported KRDO.

Alicia Mort was in the back seat of the Focus. Police said she was thrown forward and seriously injured.

Mort, 18, was taken to a local hospital and is now listed in stable condition. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Focus, Alyssa Kevil, 18, is being charged with vehicular assault, driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving resulting in injury, reported KRDO.

She has been booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

A third passenger in the Focus, 18-year-old Hannah Weydert, was wearing a seat belt and was unharmed.

No one was inside the pickup truck.
