GOLDEN, Colo. -- A former Colorado state trooper was sentenced Wednesday to
two years in jail after pleading guilty to repeatedly sexually assaulting an
8-year-old girl.
The Jefferson County District attorney's office said
Gary Born, 48 (pictured, left), was also sentenced to at least
20 years probation and a fine of $3,100. He must
complete a sex offender treatment program.
The offenses occurred when Born was off-duty
and involved a family member, according to his previous court testimony when he entered a guilty plea in August.
Born was suspended from the State Patrol when the charges were filed in March. He had been a trooper since 1991. Born subsequently resigned from the force.
