ROXBOROUGH, Colo. -- Family members and friend of the three young people killed in a Sunday morning house fire went to see the damage today.“It’s been tough. It’s been very, very tough,” said Nancy Krowson, Amber Jeffers’ aunt. She said Jeffers had just moved in with her boyfriend after she turned 18 last month.
The family is waiting to find out from fire investigators how the fire started and why it spread so quickly, but neighbors and friends pointed to dirt bikes and racing fuel that was kept in the garage.“I saw them all the time when I walked by and the garage door was open,” said Trevor Barnes, a neighbor who saw the victims a couple of hours before the blaze. “Joey (Shedron) had people over because his mom died of brain cancer that night. We’re almost positive the garage had to be the explosion.”Family members identified Joey Shedron, Amber Jeffers and Jeremy McCarroll as the victims. One survivor, who has not been named, was burned over 70% of his body.
