A complicated morgage fraud investigation resulted in five search warrants executed by 22 Wheat Ridge officers and detectives Wednesday. There were no arrests. The alleged fraud scheme involved suspected inflated real estate appraisals, inflated or forged income statements, and other forged documents.
The investigation was sparked in May when detectives were alerted to an anonymous call that referenced a fraudulent mortgage application. Continued investigation revealed that many more loan applications may be involved but an exact number is yet to be determined. The search warrants were served at one Lakewood residence, two Wheat Ridge residences, and two Wheat Ridge businesses.Three Lakewood Agents assisted in serving the warrant at the Lakewood residence.“Simultaneously serving multiple warrants in different jurisdictions takes some choreography,” said Detective Dave Dawson. “But it is necessary to preserve the evidence that may be found at each location.”Items of evidence collected during the search warrants included multiple computers and 50 boxes of documents and files. For now, the names of suspects and witnesses in this case are being withheld due to the extent of the ongoing investigation. No one has been arrested at this time. The businesses involved in this investigation are Superior Lending Associates of Colorado, LLC located at 6990 W. 38th Ave. and Mavy, Inc., located at 4380 Harlan Street, both in Wheat Ridge.Investigators are asking anyone with information about or knowledge of mortgage applications for, or that has had financial dealings with either of these companies to contact the Wheat Ridge Police Department tip line at 303-235-2947.
