Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Longmont
No Injuries As Plane Experiences Engine Problems

LONGMONT, Colo. -- A small plane made an emergency landing near Vance Brand Airport in Longmont Wednesday morning and the two people on board escaped injury.The 1996 Beechcraft Bonanza went down in a barley field east of Airport Road and south of Rogers Road at about 10:08 a.m. That is just off the airport's main runway.Pilot Brian Higley of Longmont and passenger Robert Matlacki of Westminster were on the plane.
Higley said he began experiencing engine problems as the plane cleared the foothills to land at the airport.He said they were returning to Longmont from Utah when the engine problems got worse and he knew he could not make the airport.Higley set the plane down in the nearby field, causing minor damage to the plane.
