2 Fort Collins Women Hit In Bike Lane Early Tuesday

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A Fort Collins man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after police said he ran over two bicyclists, killing one of them at daybreak on Tuesday.Police were called to West Drake Road near Moore Lane at 5:20 a.m. Officers found the two injured bicyclists and the driver of a 2004 Saab.The two women were riding together in the bike lane on West Drake Road when they were hit from behind by the Saab, police said.
Rebecca Allen, 32, of Fort Collins was transported to Poudre Valley Hospital where she died from her injuries. Jennifer Garvey, 36, of Fort Collins was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies where she was treated for her injuries.Police said both women were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.Police questioned and arrested Daniel Price, 20, of Fort Collins on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital for blood tests to determine his alcohol level.Police said additional charges against Price are pending as the investigation continued.
