Hot, Hot, Hot!

Near Record Heat Possible This Weekend

Seventy-six degrees and partly cloudy skies sound refreshing. A good soaking rain overnight would be even better.

But no. Instead, we are in store for near record high temperatures this weekend.

The reality is this weekend could be the hottest Colorado has seen this year. High temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will approach, and possibly reach, 100 degrees. The state has not hit triple-digit temperatures so far this year.

Denver's record high for July 19 is 101 degrees, set back in 2005. The state's all-time record high is 105 degrees. Climatologically, average afternoon temperatures this weekend are in the upper 80s.

Dry weather returns this weekend, meaning the fire danger will be high. While isolated storms are possible in the mountains this weekend, there is essentially no chance of rain along the Front Range.

With thousands of people attending the Mile High Music Festival this weekend, and with countless others enjoying Colorado's great outdoors, health officials remind residents to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and staying away from caffeinated drinks and alcohol. Dress in light-colored clothes and avoid strenuous activity.
