DENVER -- Starbucks Corp. has identified all 600 company-owned stores it plans to close in a bid to boost its business and weed out unprofitable locations, including nine stores in Colorado.Among the stores being closed are a Starbucks in the Denver Newspaper Agency building, one on Denver's 16th Street Mall, two stores in Loveland and one of three stores in Conifer. The company announced earlier this month that it would close 600 company-owned stores in the U.S., starting in July and continuing through the first half of the next fiscal year. But Starbucks didn't say which locations would be shut down, until now.
The company has seen traffic and its profits decline recently as the faltering economy has led some consumers to question their spending on pricey coffee. Here is the breakdown of the company-owned stores in Colorado that Starbucks Corp. is closing:BROOMFIELD: 121st St. & Sheridan Blvd.CONIFER: Conifer Town CenterDENVER: 16th St. & Wynkoop Colorado Blvd. & Alameda Ave. Denver Newspaper Agency BuildingLAKEWOOD: Colfax & WadsworthLONGMONT: Hwy 119 & MartinLOVELAND: The Shops at Centerra Hwy 34 & Denver
