DURANGO, Colo. -- Colorado Division of Wildlife officials have killed two mountain lions this week that strayed into Durango city limits. On Saturday, wildlife officials euthanized a mountain lion found eating a cat behind a shed in a family's yard. Then, around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Chris Brinkley reported a mountain lion was behind his home.
"He spun around and bared his teeth at me, and started growling. It scared me good," Chris Brinkley told the Durango Herald. The mountain lion was killed."I was just going to let it be, but if some kid got hurt down the line, I'd feel terrible about it," he told the newspaper. Wildlife officials said both were young female lions. Earlier Wednesday, wildlife officials killed a lion in Cortez that jumped on a lawnmower as a 14-year-old boy was cutting the lawn, about 40 miles southwest of Durango.
