LONGMONT, Colo. -- Police said they arrested two Longmont parents on Wednesday after evidence of a marijuana growing operation was found in their basement along with their son's homework.Michael and Brittany Wild were arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and child abuse.Police were called to the Wild's home, located at 1016 E. Longs Peak Ave., after a disturbance was reported just before 4 p.m. The family was fighting and arguing loudly, neighbors told police.
A partially dismantled marijuana-cultivation operation was in the basement, according to a police report. Approximately one dozen plants that were growing there had been harvested earlier in the day, said Longmont police Sgt. Joel Post. Two small starter plants remained in the room when police arrived.Nearly a half-pound of loose marijuana, 200 plastic sandwich baggies, an electronic scale, and an electric drying machine were also found in the couple's home. Educational items belonging to their 7-year-old son were found in the growing room, Longmont police said. The couple's son was placed with relatives and the Colorado Department of Social Services was called.
