ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. -- The FBI is searching 10 acres of property and two unoccupied homes in Adams County for evidence related to the disappearance of a man linked to a suspected serial killer.FBI agents have focused on a home on 146th Avenue and Huron Street, which used to belong to Terry Kimball, said FBI spokeswoman Cathy Wright.Terry Kimball, 60, vanished on Sept. 1, 2004. He was living with his nephew, Scott Lee Kimball, shortly before he disappeared, the FBI said. Scott told his wife, who was also living in the home, that Terry won the Ohio state lottery and ran away to Mexico with a stripper, according to a search warrant affidavit.
But FBI investigators believe something else has happened to him and they believe Scott Kimball is intimately connected to the disappearance."It looks like they're digging for bodies. My daughter's real concerned about that they're looking for bodies. Se we came over to see exactly what they were looking for," neighbor Renee Brewster said. "They seem to span out three feet between each one of them and they start tapping with their shovels and digging and doing it in quadrants. And we're just concerned."Several neighbors stopped to ask what was going on."We never had any problem with Scott threatening anybody," said neighbor James Scott. The FBI also believes Scott Kimball is involved in the disappearance of three other Colorado women -- Leann Emry, Kaysi McLeod and Jennifer Marcum. All have ties to Kimball and were last seen with him.Scott Kimball has not been charged in any of the four missing persons cases where his name has come up.However, he is believed to be in a Park County jail awaiting sentencing on a parole violation. Kimball could get up to 10 years on that charge alone. But in court documents obtained by 7NEWS, it appears the sentencing range agreed upon through his plea agreement is 4 to 5 years.Kaysi McLeod is the daughter of Scott Kimball's wife, Lori McLeod-Offerson. McLeod-Offerson thought her daughter had run away when she disappeared in August 2003. But she now believes that Scott killed her."I'm just numb over it, " McLeod said about nthe FBI crawling over the home she once shared with both Kimball men.The FBI has already searched a remote area of Colorado looking for McLeod's remains. The FBI said it found "evidence of evidentiary value" in the Routt National Forest but would not say if they were her remains. The DNA from bones found in that area by a hunter last September matched that of McLeod.
