NEDERLAND, Colo. -- Five people were arrested Tuesday night at a campground near Ward in the Boulder County foothills after a fight broke out.The incident took place at Ruby Gulch, a popular camping area on state forest land along the Peak to Peak Highway, according to a news release.The Boulder Daily Camera reported that all five of those arrested were members of the "Rainbow Family" -- typically a peaceful group that preaches tolerance and love.
Deputies said one man may have been stabbed in the neck and hit on the head with a shovel several times.There was a report of another stabbing but deputies couldn't find the victim.Deputies said the first attack victim was airlifted to St. Anthony’s Central Hospital in Denver with non-life-threatening injuries after his friends drove him to Nederland.Police in Nederland stopped a bus matching the description of one leaving the campground and arrested Andrew Joseph, 24, on suspicion of felony assault and menacing. He was described as a transient, with no home town.Three others were arrested for participating in the fight and another man was arrested on an outstanding warrant.Any witnesses to the event who have not yet been interviewed by law enforcement are asked to contact Detective Ali Thompson at 303-441-3643.
