COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- When the wind picked up while a crew was painting a Commerce City water tank, the overspray ended up all over cars, motorcycles and homes in the surrounding neighborhood. Some residents are upset about the damage and say the South Adams County Water and Sanitation District isn't doing enough.Joe Vigil said he saw the crews spray painting the water tank near 64th Ave. and Quebec St. on a windy day several weeks ago and noticed his four cars were covered with little white dots
"It almost looked like it was a dusting over all the cars. The back of my house had spray paint on it, too," said Vigil. He said the painting contractor did pay for the car to be detailed, but the dots were still there.Irene and Frank Sandoval live one street over and had the same problem."I just keep getting the run around, and it's just getting frustrating because I want to get it fixed, I want to get it cleaned up, I want to get it done," said Irene Sandoval.Jim Jones, interim general manager for the South Adams County Water and Sanitation District said he thought the painting contractor had taken care of all the complaints, but he has since learned that appraisers have not met with some of the neighbors yet."We are concerned about it, we do care about our customers, we want to get this situation resolved with the customers," said Jones. Some resident said they feel the entire neighborhood should be notified of the potential damage, because some haven't noticed it yet.
