DENVER -- A cold front moved through on Thursday and so some slightly cooler air has brought relief to the plains. The front will remain stalled out along the Front Range on Friday. Temperatures will remain in the upper 80s on Friday, but enjoy it now because the heat returns this weekend. On Thursday afternoon, there were a number of severe thunderstorm warnings issued for the eastern plains. Developing cells brought heavy rain to some, while most everyone in the metro area didn't even see a drop. Storms on Friday once again have the potential to bring heavy rain to spots. Look for gusty winds and small hail with these individual storms. It looks like the northeastern plains will once again be under the greatest threat of severe storms on Friday afternoon.High pressure will quickly rebuild in the west and this weekend is shaping up to be an extremely hot one. Temperatures will warm into the mid to upper 90s on Saturday and close to 100 by Sunday. The average high is 88 degrees for Denver.
