8-Year-Old Shooting Victim Out of Hospital, In Good Spirits

Six Months Away From Full Recovery

Sierra Moore, 8, was in good spirits this afternoon as she spoke with reporters.

The little girl was gunned down two weeks ago in Denver's Curtis Park neighborhood.

"Me and my auntie were coming back from her friends and I don't remember nothing else," she said.

Her aunt, Jessica Gay, 14, said they saw a black car come down their street and they started to run. At one point, she said Sierra stopped.

"(Sierra) said I can't go any further, something hit me," said Gray.

She said Sierra told her to save herself but she picked Sierra up and began to run to a nearby Burger King for help.

"I was bleeding on the side," Sierra said.

Sierra laid there and said she couldn't hear anything but said Gray began to give her CPR.

Gray said she was scared because Moore's eyes were rolling back. Shortly after, the ambulance arrived and told Gray that Sierra would be alright.

Sierra endured eight surgeries before finally being released from the hospital. Her parents said her survival is a blessing.

"I feel God has always been in our life and he was definately in Sierra's life at the time of the (shooting). There is no way a child could be hit with that kind of damage and survive that kind of damage without God," said Michael Anthony Moore, Sr.

Sierra will recover at her parent's house this summer. She said she is frustrated that she won't be able to hang out with her friends, swim or play on the playground.

Police said Daniel Lujan, 20, shot the girl. His fiancee, Victoria Esparza, 19, is believed to have been behind the wheel. They have been charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count each of first-degree assault and child abuse.

Moore said both will have their day in court.
