A man pulled from Poudre River Monday morning has died, but it's not known yet what caused his death.

A passerby called police at about 7:54 a.m. when he saw what appeared to be a body in the river near the Gateway bridge at 640 N. College.

When police officers and firefighters arrived, they saw a man partially submerged with his feet in the water.

The 49-year-old man from Fort Collins was alive yet unconscious.

He was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies where he died, Fort Collins police said. The man's name as well as manner and cause of death will be released by the Larimer County Coroner's Office. Police are investigating the incident but said there does not appear to be any indication of foul play.
