Thieves Steal From Paralyzed Vet

Home Depot Says It Will Help Replace Stolen Items

Thieves broke into a storage unit holding supplies for a home being built for a disabled Iraq veteran Friday night.

The home for Matt Keil and his wife, Tracey, is sponsored by the national organization Homes for our Troops.

Dozens of volunteers have been working on the home and most of the supplies were donated.

On their Web site, the Keils wrote, "I received a phone call that our storage bins at the house had been broken into and that all of the power tools had been stolen."

"I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! I was so pissed off! They stole all the tools that the volunteers had brought to the jobsite," they wrote.

Among the items stolen are an air compressor, hoses, nail guns and an electric saw.

Staff Sgt. Matt Keil was shot by sniper fire on his second tour of duty in Iraq. The injury paralyzed him.

The Parker Home Depot will help replace the stolen tools, Tracy Keil said Saturday afternoon.

If you would like to send support to Matt and Tracey Keil, you can contact them on their Web site, caringbridge.org
