State troopers examine the site where a man died after being pinned against a concrete barrier.

Pedestrian Pinned Between Big Rig, Concrete Barrier

Investigators Ask For Help Locating Driver Of Tractor-Trailer

The Colorado State Patrol wants to know who was driving a semi-tractor trailer that pinned a man against a concrete barrier, then left the scene Thursday morning.

According to investigators, 44-year-old Jadelton Cazenave was walking eastbound on 88th Avenue at the same time the big rig exited Interstate 76 to turn onto eastbound 88th.

Witnesses told investigators that the right rear tire of the trailer hit the man, pinning him between the concrete barrier and the tire.

A witness to the incident told investigators that the driver blew his horn just before striking the pedestrian and then continued eastbound on 88th Avenue without assisting him. Investigators said they believe that the driver was aware of the injured pedestrian.

The incident was reported at 8:06 a.m. Thursday.

Cazenave was transported to Denver Health Medical Center where he later died.

The CSP suspects that the vehicle in question may have pulled into the DPI Rocky Mountain property at 8125 E. 88th Avenue, just minutes after the incident. The driver of the tractor trailer exited the vehicle,  walked to the area of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian and inspected it. He then exited the property along with another tractor trailer, according to the state patrol.

Investigators say the vehicle involved is a red 2002 to 2005 Volvo truck tractor with a sloped nose. The tractor rig has a single smoke stack on the passenger side. The truck tractor was pulling a white cargo box semi trailer with a refrigeration attachment.

The other vehicle that pulled onto the property and left the property with the suspect vehicle was described by a witness as a black 1999 to 2001 Freightliner with a box type front end with a single smoke stack on the driver's side of the vehicle. "The semi-trailer is a cargo box type trailer that is white in color with a small sleeper, and it also has a refer attachment," the Colorado State Patrol said.

Anyone with information about these two vehicles is encouraged to contact the CSP at 303-239-4583.
