Police Say Suspect Has Outstanding Warrant In Adams County

DENVER -- A 67-year-old Commerce City man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly running over a 13-year-old boy with a truck.Alonso Ponce-Jimenez of Commerce City was arrested and taken to the Commerce City Police Department for processing, said Sgt. Joe Sandoval.Ponce-Jimenez is being held at the Adams County Detention Facility for an existing warrant and new charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, a felony, and driving under revocation for three prior alcohol convictions, Sandoval said.
Police said on June 17, the boy was hit while riding his bicycle with two friends.A white truck struck the boy, stopped briefly and then left without giving aid, Sandoval said.Police said they believe they have found the truck involved in the accident at a residence in Thornton. It has been impounded.
