LINCOLN, Neb. -- The family of a missing Nebraska woman who is presumed dead is holding a funeral service for her in Lincoln. Rescue teams have suspended the search for 56-year-old Mary Brake, who fell into a Colorado creek while horseback riding with her husband and 9-year-old daughter June 20th. Authorities said they have exhausted all options in the search for Brake. She was washed downstream after falling into the swift-moving creek after her horse lost its footing.
Her family released a statement last week saying, "The river in the mountains that she loved so much swept her away from the family that she loved even more."Link: Read the entire family statement"Mary was an amazing woman, unlike anyone else I’ve ever known," wrote family member Sera Kapels. "She will be greatly missed by all who ever met her, and a void will never be filled in those whose lives she was a part of." A rosary service was held Sunday night at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln. A funeral Mass is being held Monday at the church.
